Chopper Pumps
Vaughan chopper pumps incorporate increases in efficiency, with improved reliability handling tough stringy solids. Some models also include a new backpullout casing design, allowing external adjustment of clearances and ease of maintenance. Vaughan Chopper Pumps are not to be confused with other types or brands of chopper pumps, cutter pumps, grinder pumps or comminutors.
Some of the unique patented features specific to Vaughan Chopper Pumps which make the product so dependable are:
Vaughan’s unique cartridge style mechanical seal handles the toughest slurries, outperforming standard single-spring seals by reducing problems associated with wrapping or abrasion. Stray solids trapped in the mechanical seal area are shredded and removed by the impeller vanes turning against the upper cutter. Solids are chopped by the cupped and sharpened impeller blades turning across the cutter bar, creating a smooth “slicing” effect. The conditioned slurry is easily pumped through the pump and piping system without plugging. The cutter nut cuts stringy materials that can tend to wrap at the pump inlet. An optional disintegrator tool agitates and breaks up large solids to prevent suction blockage. The tool is removable for stringy solids.
Rotamix Pumps
Vaughan's Rotamix® System is a process mixing system designed for complete tank mixing, in lieu of conventional gas or draft tube type mixing. The Rotamix System includes Vaughan Horizontal End Suction Chopper Pump(s) in combination with Vaughan Floor-Mounted Mixing Nozzles. Each application is custom engineered, and can include a Computational Fluid Dynamics analysis to assure complete mixing. This cost effective system provides ease of access to the pump for routine maintenance, and increases overall efficiency by chopping and pumping solids continuously, all for less cost than conventional mixing systems.
Applications include anaerobic digesters, sludge storage, aeration basins, and any other applications requiring complete and maintained suspension of solids.
Triton Pumps
Vaughan Company, with over 44 years of solids handling experience, introduces the Triton® screw centrifugal pumps, combining the benefits of Vaughan’s superior pump designs with the advantages of high efficient, non-clogging performance. The Triton screw centrifugal pump’s open channel impeller is ideal for handling thick sludges, large or stringy solids, shear sensitive fluids and delicate or highly abrasive materials.
Unique features include steep performance curves, non-overloading power characteristics, heavy-duty power frames, flushless mechanical seal design to eliminate water flush requirements, or an optional standard power frame with water flushed mechanical seal or packing.
